sun rise and sun set data provided in this site are related to local mean time. The same should be corrected with the standard time if wish to follow them according to the standard time instead of local time.
for example
The sun rise shown for Mumbai (Bombay) for 16th December 2010 is
06.33 AM
Indian Standard Time is set to 82 degrees and 30 seconds east of Greenwich. it corresponds to + 5hrs and 30 minutes of greenwich time. The time correction between Mumbai and this standarad time longitude is + 38 min and 24 seconds. So the Sun rise at Mumbai on 16 th December according to the Indian Standard Time is 07.11 AM.
The same method should be adopted to get the local mean time in corresponding standard time of that place.
but when such corrections are made to the Sunrise to make it standard time equivalent, one should make the same correction in the timings of the Tithi etc as they are also corresponding to the local time.
One more thing is also there.
When we compare this Standard sunrise with other others it can be felt it is higher for nearly 6 minutes. The Calculations of the Phenomenon like Tithi etc corresponding to the conjunction of the sun's center and the Azimuth where as the modern sun rise contains the correction of refraction and it corresponds the conjuction of the upper limb of the sun's disc with the azimuth.
